GSAI to Offer Bachelor‘s Degree in Artificial Intelligence

The Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China has recently approved GSAI to offer Bachelor’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence (# 0807171).

Program Objectives

This Bachelor degree of Engineering is designed with RUC orientation in mind, as it echoes the national strategy on AI development, connects professional and general focuses and cultivates innovation with hands-on training.

Graduates of the 4-year program will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for the profession of AI Scientist, AI Engineer, AI entrepreneur as well as AI-facilitated social scientists. Students will be encouraged to apply their know-hows to endeavors in various fields for innovation and explore frontiers in the field. Provided with an international platform with cutting-edge technologies, graduates of this program are expected to excel as innovative talents with global vision as well as social responsibility.

Curriculum

Following international best practice and RUC requirements, the curriculum of the program is designed to fulfill the program objectives, which involves liberal arts courses, systematic AI courses, international summer schools, innovation-oriented workshops, outward bound training as well as career consultation sessions.

International Collaboration

GSAI has established collaboration with Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at the Université de Montréal, a prestigious institution in the field with its head Prof. Yoshuba Bengio being one of the three “godfathers” of AI development and winner of the Turing Award in 2018. The two sides already have joint Ph.D program in place. GSAI is also working closely with world-renowned universities such as Yale, Stanford and Cambridge for further cooperation.

Internship Opportunities

GSAI works to build a national innovative platform for AI research-industry integration. With resources from the Gaoling group, GSAI has developed internship programs with over 20 renowned AI companies including Jindong, Didi, Langchao, iQIYI and Meituan. Students are encouraged to learn by doing through “scenario-driven “courses co-developed with the enterprises, as part of the efforts to facilitate research-industry integration for innovative joint talent cultivation.
